The right storage size saves you money and hassle — too small and you need a second unit, too big and you pay for empty space. As a rule of thumb: a Medium gobox (3.6m long) suits a 1-2 bedroom home or a few rooms of furniture, and a Large gobox (4.8m long) comfortably holds a 2-3 bedroom home. Bigger households typically use two Large units.
Two homes of the same size can need very different space, so think about what you are actually storing rather than just counting bedrooms. Note the bulky items — fridges, washing machines, wardrobes, lounges, mattresses, bikes and outdoor furniture — and if you also have a garage or shed to clear, size up.
Measure first
Measure your biggest items so you know they’ll fit.
Use the full height
Flat-pack furniture where you can, and stack boxes to the roof.
Keep a walkway
Leave access inside if you’ll need to reach things during storage.
When in doubt, size up
A little extra room costs less than a second delivery.
Packing well makes a big difference too — see our packing guide.
